Study from Archives of Surgery shows that surgeons' skills are diminished the day after becoming intoxicated

A sm all study published in the Archives of Surgery tested physicians' laparoscopic skills on a simulator, the day following a dinner out where the surgeons drank alcohol until they considered themselves "intoxicated."  The subsequent findings strongly suggest that even where the surgeons were no longer intoxicated at the time of testing, their skills were diminshed.  The authors suggested that surgeons abstain from drinking alcohol on an evening before surgery.  Might be wise for a patients to go to Utah for surgery---where the likelihood of a teetotalling surgeon is increased....
