Study associates pancreatic cancer with Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B was known to be associated with liver cancer in rats.  A new study by Dr. James Abbruzzese of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston also associates hep B with deadly pancreatic cancer.  Fewer than one percent of the population will develop pancreatic cancer (about 38,000 cases in the U.S. each year) but it is normally deadly within months.  Smoking, obesity and diabetes have also been linked to the disease.
