Store not responsible for injuries after display chair collapsed

Marita Bonner was hurt after she attempted to sit down on a "papasan" chair on display in KMart and the chair collapsed under her.  Her attorneys argued that the chair was defective and that KMart should be responsible for her injuries.  The Court upheld the summary disposition of Bonner's claim, pointing out that she had no proof of when or why the fabric on the chair ripped, and that since she weighed 240 pounds and the chair was small, she could not prove that the collapse wasn't her own fault.
