Prominent cancer researcher warns about cell phone use
Dr. Ronald B. Herberman, Director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, was quoted in today's Chicago Tribune warning users of a cancer risk associated with the use of cellphones. Although a number of studies done here and abroad have not identified any risk associated with a cell phone's electromagnetic field, the Doctor cited unpublished data and the same studies, and warned parents about childhood use of phones, in particular. He urged all users to utilize headphones and to limit cell phone use by kids. Clearly there is no concensus among scientists or cancer advocacy groups on this issue.
