Legal malpractice claim against lawyer who referred injury case is dismissed
Emir Ibrahimovic sued David Zimmerman after he was dissatisfied with the outcome of his personal injury case--in part because Zimmerman referred him to an attorney who apparently committed suicide after embezzling from clients. Zimmerman denied that there was any attorney-client relationship between him and Ibrahimovic. The trial judge agreed and granted summary disposition.
The Plaintiff appealed, but after reviewing the facts, the appellate court upheld the dismissal. It pointed out that even taking into account only the Plaintiff's account of what happened, he had not documented an attorney-client relationship with Zimmerman.
