Court upholds summary dismissal of case where counsel failed to pay $250 sanction and was one hour late for hearing

In Brown v. Yang, the Macomb County Circuit Judge permanently dismissed the automobile negligence case brought by Brown because her attorney had not paid a $250 sanction and was an hour late for a hearing related to discovery violations.  The Court of Appeals acknowledged that this "drastic" sanction should be taken cautiously, but approved the dismissal.
