Court rejects claim that "individual mandate" in health care law is unconstitutional

This week, the Sixth Circuit ruled that the lower court had ruled correctly in dismissing a constitutional challenge to the individual mandate contained in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.   A "Citizens' Association" in Akron, Ohio, that devotes itself to "preservation of conservative values" raised a multitude of arguments suggesting that requiring individuals to purchase a form of health insurance or contribute to the health care system was a constitutional violation.  The Court pointed out that the organizations' arguments had already been rejected in numerous cases.
