Court holds Washington-based company can be sued in Michigan
Larsen Services, Inc., sued Nova Verta USA, Inc., alleging that the Defendant violated their contract when it by-passed Larsen to sell products directly to the Plaintiff's customers. Nova Verta argued that it should not have to defend Larsen's suit in Michigan because it did not do business in Michigan. The Court disagreed and held that since Nova Verta enjoyed the benefits of a contract with a Michigan company selling products to Michigan customers, the Michigan courts enjoy limited jurisdiction over Nova Verta with regard to this connection.
