1983 "excessive force" claim against Redford Township is partially dismissed
Charles Austin sued the Redford Township Police Department and three officers, claiming excessive force was used in arresting him. The Court dismissed the initial arrest claim, but agreed that the claim Austin was Tasered after being handcuffed should go to the jury. It also held that Austin's claim that he was attacked by the officers' dog after being cuffed presented a factual question for the jury.
