1300 babies remain hospitalized as a result of baby formula

If you weren't concerned about the safety of food we import from China, perhaps this will give you pause.  Last year the Chinese government vowed to improve food safety after numerous embarrassing product recalls and contamination incidents.  Less than a year later, the government admits that more than 6,000 babies have been poisoned, that more than 1300 remain hospitalized and seriously ill, and that at least two have died as a result of intentional contamination of baby formula with Melamine.  The chemical is used to distort the apparent protein content of the formula and traces of it have been found in batches from 22 of the 175 dairy operations tested.  Recall that our government inspects less than one percent of the food products imported from China.
