Wal-Mart agrees to pay another multi-million dollar settlement to reimburse employees
On September 24, 2009, Wal-Mart announced yet another large settlement in a class action brought on behalf of its employees. This one was for three million dollars and arose out of the Massachusetts Attorney General's efforts to force Wal-Mart to allow employees proper meal breaks. Employees had documented repeated failures by the Company to allow meal breaks after six hours on duty, in violation of state labor laws. Wal-Mart says it is committed to providng "proper rest and meal breaks for its workers"....it just doesn't show.
