Visiting inappropriate internet cites (with sexual content) is "misconduct" that disqualifies terminated worker from receiving unemployment benefits.
Ronald Berglund appealed the denial of his request for unemployment benefits. He was terminated by Industrial Technology Institute for using his computer to access "inappropriate" websites. The MESC denied Berglund's benefits based on a finding of "misconduct." The Court of Appeal pointed out that Berglund's access of the sites increased the employer's exposure to computer viruses and "cookies" and upheld the misconduct finding.
