On August 3, 2012, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals agreed with the National Labor Relations Board that ADT Security Services, Inc., engaged in unfair labor practices when it refused to recognize the long-standing representation of Local 131 of the IBEW in Kalamazoo, closed the Kalamazoo office and refused to bargain over working conditions, including the reduction of overtime and transportation. ADT attempted to reduce over-time pay and transportation requirements unilaterally and to "squeeze out" the Kalamazoo unionized plant.
